Battle on Bay will be celebrating its 10th Annual Conference on January 13th and 14th, 2017 in downtown Toronto. It is a unique financial case competition presented by the Ryerson University Finance Society, in which it allows undergraduate commerce students from across Canada, to utilize and develop their analytical skills to solve current financial issues. In addition, delegates will have the opportunity to present their creative solutions in front of a diverse panel of industry professionals. From this experience, participating delegates will gain exposure to financial issues occurring in the current business world and have the opportunity to meet with industry professionals that deal with these issues on a daily basis.
The conference and competition will be a two-day event taking place on Friday January 13th and Saturday January 14th, 2017. The event will commence with opening remarks by the Dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management, Stephen Murphy, to be followed by two days of networking and activities, as well as the two presentations regarding the case competition.
Workshops, speakers and networking opportunities with industry professionals will take place primarily on Friday January 13th, 2017. On Friday, the first portion of the case competition will be held where students will present a pre-assigned case to a panel of judges made up of business and academic professionals. On Saturday, January 14th students will be given a second portion of the case.
Battle on Bay is a unique and intellectually challenging opportunity for students to analyze real world financial cases and scenarios. Some of the top undergraduate students from across the nation, as well as many top indsutry professionals, will be in attendance.
Students that compete in the Battle on Bay case competition give themselves an edge when it comes to competing in the job market. Many universities, especially MBA programs, teach through the use of cases. This gives students the ability to practice their skills in real world situations. Battle on Bay gives students the opportunity to compete, and prove the capability of their skills, in comparison to other schools.
Battle on Bay also gives competitors the opportunity to network with a plethora of industry professionals, as well as fellow students from across the country. It is often said in business: "it is not what you know, but who you know". Battle on Bay allows you to meet the people, that will help push you to your future career.
