Battle on Bay is a unique and intellectually challenging opportunity for students to analyze financial cases on selected industries. The top undergraduate students from across the Nation are invited to compete. Competitors will develop essential skills in financial strategies, financial modeling and pitching, and apply them to the case. Top industry professionals from the selected industry will gather to judge and prospect.
The two-day conference will be hosted in downtown Toronto. Here, delegates will be treated to many informative workshops and activities that relate to the field of Finance. Battle on Bay also provides networking opportunities with students and industry professionals, culminating with a gala dinner on the final evening.
The conference and competition will be a two-day event taking place on Friday January 15th and Saturday January 16th, 2016. The event will commence with opening remarks by the Dean of the Ted Rogers School of Management, Stephen Murphy, to be followed by two days of networking and activities, as well as the two presentations regarding the case competition.
Workshops, speakers and networking opportunities with industry professionals will take place primarily on Friday January 15th, 2016. On Friday, the first portion of the case competition will be held where students will present a pre-assigned case to a panel of judges made up of business and academic professionals. On Saturday, January 16th students will be given a second portion of the case. Following the case competition will be an awards reception that will include a Black Tie gala dinner at the Marriott on Bay Street in downtown Toronto. We are happy to announce that Don Romano, President and CEO of Hyundai Canada, will be the keynote speaker for this event.
We are excited to announce the theme of this year’s Battle on Bay conference: Finance in the Automotive Industry. Canada’s Auto Industry is the 8th largest in the world and is a major contribution to the Canadian economy. Canada manufactures many different types of vehicles from cars and trucks to military transportation. On top of this, the after-market industry has become a world-class service provider. Therefore, it is crucial for any aspiring financial analysts to understand its importance in Canada. This case competition and conference will allow delegates to gain a competitive advantage by solving a real life situation that professionals encounter in the automobile industry. Delegates will also have the opportunity to network with industry professionals from leading auto companies.
